High Speed Sintering

Neil Hopkinson - Loughborough University, UK

ABSTRACT - This talk will describe the High Speed Sintering process that was invented at Loughborough University and the drivers that led to its inception. The mechanical performance of parts manufactured by the process will be shown under extremely demanding loads. Finally a series of "what if" scenarios will be presented to give an idea of the potential build speed and cost per part from High Speed Sintering in the future.

Biography

Neil joined the "Rapid" industry in 1996 undertaking a PhD in Rapid Tooling at Nottingham University. To date Neil has secured over £3m in research funding mainly in the area of Rapid Manufacturing. He was the lead editor of the world's first book on Rapid Manufacturing and has been an invited/keynote speaker and a member of the scientific panel for numerous conferences worldwide. In 2007 Neil was named in TCT Europe magazine as one of the world's top 25 most influential people in the industry over the preceding 15 years.
